This week in Year 5 w/c 29th April

The children have been learning many skills through our ‘Rivers – Water of Life?’ topic, such as persuading us which animal is the champion river creature and developing a variety of art skills to create river creature pictures.
In PE we have been ‘striking and fielding’. If it is nice weather this weekend, some children would really benefit from playing some ball games to improve their throwing and catching. We do PE every Tuesday and Wednesday and full PE kit, suitable for outdoor PE, is needed by all children.
Next week we will be investigating how animals are adapted to their environment – why don’t crocodiles live in Britain? Also, we will be visiting CBEC for a morning of activities on Tuesday – all children will need to bring a packed lunch as we will be returning too late for school dinners.
As the weather is warming up at last, please can all children have a named water bottle with a sports top in school every day – brains need to be hydrated for good learning to take place!
And finally . . . . we have had to talk to the children about e-safety as we are aware that some children are gaming online, playing games not appropriate to their age or are on Facebook. We urge you to take every precaution to keep your children safe when they are online.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
