Rights, Respect and Responsibilities Conference 2012

Last Friday, Mrs Ashby, Miss Dunn and Mrs Redgell led a workshop at this conference to share how we have developed a rights respecting ethos at our school. Colleagues from across the county learnt how we use picture books to look at a range of issues with children in order for them to understand the rights all children as laid out in the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The book studies are a very accessible way to consider why some children’s rights are denied and have been developed with a UNICEF assessor. We took examples of the children’s work to share and the workshop was described as ‘outstanding’. Other schools have already been in touch to share our resources!
