Coronavirus
What to do if your child is unwell or tests positive for Covid-19
From 1 April 2022
The latest Government guidance states:
- Children who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to school when they no longer have a high temperature and are well enough to attend.
- Children who have a positive Covid-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days (5 days for those aged over 18).
Regular asymptomatic testing (with lateral flow tests) and symptomatic testing (with PCR tests) are now only for specific groups of vulnerable people and those working in high-risk settings. Anyone who wishes to test for Covid-19 can buy a test from a pharmacy.
Preventing the spread of Covid-19 in school
We will continue with baseline infection prevention and control measures that will help to manage the spread of infection, including:
- Ensuring all eligible groups are enabled and supported to take up the offer of national vaccination programmes including COVID-19 and flu.
- Ensuring occupied spaces are well-ventilated and let fresh air in.
- Reinforcing good hygiene practices such as hand washing and cleaning.
Remote learning
The Coronavirus Act 2020 and provision of remote education (England) temporary continuity (no.2) direction expired on 24 March 2022, meaning that schools no longer have a legal duty to provide remote education.
