Growing and learning together

  • Diploma Day

    Tue 22 Oct 2013

On Friday morning the children will get a chance to try something unusual- something the teachers and teaching assistants are really passionate about but don’t always get the chance to show. Children will work with others from different year groups on one of the activities below in order to try and learn a new skill, and to develop a learning behaviour.

They include gardening, puppet making, scrap booking, woven book marks, friendship bracelets, felt making, origami, creating calendars, dream catchers, computer animations, sports, juggling, singing and dancing, patchwork and board games.

    Sounds fantastic!

  • Our new library mural!

    Tue 22 Oct 2013
Come and have a look at our new mural in our library! It’s amazing! We asked our pupils who their favourite book characters were and why, and Mr Stratton – one of our fantastic parents – designed a mural for our library based on those characters. It’s a great example of our school community working together. It also shows what talent, dedication and resilience can achieve. Thank you, Mr Stratton.
  • Taekwondo test passed!

    Sun 20 Oct 2013

Well done to Freddie in Year 6, who passed his Taekwondo test on Friday. He is now a black belt! This is an amazing achievement, and models many of our learning behaviours. It demands so much hard work, dedication and resilience. Freddie has been doing Taekwondo for 4 1/2 years, and to stick at something for that long shows great character. Well done Freddie- we are all very proud of you!

  • This week at KFJS

    Sat 19 Oct 2013

We’ll be thinking about our value of ‘care‘. This may be about taking care of others, or taking pride in our work.

During Monday‘s assembly, Mr Applegate and Mrs Vickery will share about the need for caring for one another. In particular, our pupils will hear about our Young Carers club, which runs every week for those pupils who have a greater responsibility for looking after a loved one at home. They are amazing!

On Tuesday, our Year 3 pupils are visiting the cinema to help them learn more about their project.

On Wednesday, ShopMobility are sharing with us about their work to help members of the public with disabilities lead as normal lives as possible.

On Friday, it’s diploma morning! The children will get to choose an ‘unusual’ activity run by a member of staff. The focus is on developing our learning behaviours, working with pupils in other year groups, and trying something new!

  • Learning Behaviours Display

    Wed 09 Oct 2013
Our display in the hall shows off how our pupils are developing their learning behaviours at our school. For example, a leaf would be added when a child shows how they used resilience to help them in their learning. Watch it grow over the coming weeks! • Cycling for St. Michael’s Hospice

    Sun 06 Oct 2013

Well done to Callum in Year 6 who has raised over £150 for St Michael's Hospice! Over the past few years, he has taken part in the Big Wheel 21 Bike Ride, which is 5 miles long. The money raised goes to help children who really need to be looked after due to their poor health, and also supports their families deal with the difficult time.

Keep up the good work Callum! And if your child does an activity for charity, please do let us know

    We think it's great!
