It was great to see some of our pupils attending to the needs of our community garden last week. The weather gave them a chance to pull some weeds out and to have a general tidy up. If anyone has spare time and enjoys working outside, please feel free to join in.
This week, pupils came home with a sticker and leaflet about keeping ‘SMART’ when on-line. The 5 rules are below. Please do have an ongoing chat with your child about this; children spend an ever-increasing amount of time on-line, and together we need to do all we can to keep them safe, and be aware of the dangers.
Dear Parents/Carers and children
As a school we are always looking for ways to improve and update our learning resources and technology. With this is mind we have decided to buy some tablets for the children to use in lessons and need your help. We haven’t fully decided which type of tablet to buy so would be very grateful if you could help us with our decision.
If you own a tablet, please could you suggest any apps that you use or think would benefit the children educationally. Some apps might be subject specific (English, Maths, Science etc), whilst others might be good tools for learning (making videos, using GPS/maps, note-taking etc). You may also know of some useful apps from your ‘SmartPhone’- often these apps work on a tablet, too.
Please could you send in your ideas by Friday 7th June 2013.
Yours faithfully
Mrs Alsey
On Wednesday, it was great to have Rev. Pat share with us in assembly about friendship. Friends aren't always perfect, but we must all learn to forgive and forget, and make the most of them. Thank you Rev Pat!
Well done to Javier in Year 5, who has won a Basingstoke competition to design the front cover for the Basingstoke Primary Schools Music Festival brochure. There were hundreds of entrants from schools across the area, and Javier's design was chosen as the best one. Well done- you've made us all proud.

We’ll be looking at the topic of friendship, and how we can enjoy being part of a world that is made up of a diverse group of people, with a range of needs. We’ll think about the fairness of situations around the world (such as 50% of the world being malnourished, despite there being plenty of food to go round).
Friday is the grand opening of our courtyard, thanks to our Year 4 pupils and parents. The Year 6 leavers photo is on Friday, too. Don’t forget about half term next week.
