  • Have coffee on us this Friday

    This Friday, come and have a cup of coffee or tea in the main hall, before you pick up your children. The school hall will be open from 2:50pm – 3:15pm. There isn’t anything ‘official’ going on, although Mr Applegate and other members of staff will be around to talk to
  • Rights, Respect and Responsibilities Conference 2012

    Last Friday, Mrs Ashby, Miss Dunn and Mrs Redgell led a workshop at this conference to share how we have developed a rights respecting ethos at our school. Colleagues from across the county learnt how we use picture books to look at a range of issues with children in order for them to understand the rights all children as laid out in the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The book studies are a very accessible way to consider why some children’s rights are denied and have been developed with a UNICEF assessor. We took examples of the children’s work to share and the workshop was described as ‘outstanding’. Other schools have already been in touch to share our resources!

    Today we had a fantastic performance of Charlotte’s Web, from M&M productions. We want to thank them for their time and effort; it was great!

    This week, we’ll be thinking more about reading. We’ll hear about the Twits in assembly on Monday, and we’ve got M&M Productions bringing us a theatrical version of the book ‘Charlotte’s Web’ on Wednesday.

    Debi Evans the co-author of the Secret Society of Dragon Protectors fantsay adventure books will be visiting our school on 11th October. She will be talking about her books and children will have the opportunity to buy signed copies.For more information please go to our ‘school letters’ page.

     
  • Parents Open Afternoons

    Following on from our successful open afternoon at the beginning of the year, we’d like to invite you to a class / year group specific afternoon of activity. The idea is to enjoy a practical task with your child in class, to support them in their learning, or see them present what they have been learning. The dates for these afternoons are as follows:

     

    • 9th November: 5A
    • 13th November: 5D
    • 16th November: 4B
    • 22nd November: 4H
    • 23rd November: 3C & 3AB
    • 30th November: 6R & 6S

     

    Class teachers will be in touch nearer the date with more information, such as timings and what to expect! There will also be tea, coffee and refreshments available, either before or after the event.

    As my first month draws to an end, I would like to say a huge thank you for making me feel so welcome. I have felt first hand the warmth of our school community, and am confident that together we can make Kings Furlong Juniors an even greater school. It’s an exciting time, and I am looking forward to all that this year holds for all of us. Thanks again, Mr Applegate.

     
     
  • Can you help out at school?

    Could you come into school 20 minutes early at the end of the day, or spend 30 minutes at school during lunch? This may be with reading to children, helping them to learn times tables, or even admin style tasks. Do get it touch with the office
