  • Thank you

    Thu 27 Sep 2012

As my first month draws to an end, I would like to say a huge thank you for making me feel so welcome. I have felt first hand the warmth of our school community, and am confident that together we can make Kings Furlong Juniors an even greater school. It’s an exciting time, and I am looking forward to all that this year holds for all of us. Thanks again, Mr Applegate.

  • You’ve asked, and we’re working on it!

    Thu 27 Sep 2012

At our recent parents forum in the first week of term, it was suggested that we could improve Kings Furlong Juniors  by asking other secondary schools besides Cranbourne to visit our Year 6 pupils. We’re in discussions at the minute to make this happen. Music lessons were also a favoured suggestion. Guitar lessons are in place, news of keyboard lessons are coming soon, and we are also looking at a recorder club. Another request was to ensure we keep the online calendar up-to-date. This is being actively carried out, as well as ensuring there is plenty of news and events communicated via our website. As a staff, we have been working on how we can better support children who find writing particularly difficult. We are also discussing how we can communicate with you more effectively about your child’s progress.

  • Farewell to our Friday Flyers

    Thu 27 Sep 2012

Today will see the last Friday Flyer for now. With the improvements to our website, we would like to put all school information on it. Why the change? Well, the website allows us to add more details of school news and events, including pictures and/or videos. Further, the Friday Flyer gets put on the website anyway, so it does seem to duplicate work. If you’ve been given a paper copy of the Friday Flyer, please do come and see the office, where we can discuss alternatives with you. We aim to keep all our parents and carers informed.

  • Bag2School in October- help raise school funds!

    Fri 21 Sep 2012

Bag2School is a company, who work with schools in raising money for school, and providing resources to disadvantaged people. The idea is that parents are given a special blue bag, which is taken home and filled up with old clothes, shoes and textiles. This is then returned to school, and collected by the company. For each kilo of clothes, the HSA will get 50p, which will be distributed between the Infants and Juniors.

The bags will be delivered to us around the 15th October. If you have any clothes to donate to this scheme, please bring them in (in the blue bag!) during the week of the 4th of November. Thank you!

  • Music lessons are coming!

    Thu 20 Sep 2012

Many parents have asked for music lessons for their children, and we know that giving children opportunities to learn an instrument adds to their enjoyment in life. If the Olympics has taught us anything, it’s that we must provide all we can for our children now, so that they are able to use their talents to succeed and enjoy!

Therefore, we’re pleased to be offering guitar lessons starting weekly on Tuesday 8th October. They will be run by a qualified guitar teacher, who came into assembly this morning to talk about it with the children. Look in the letters section of the website for details.

We’ll be starting keyboard lessons too, but are in the middle of arranging the details. Watch this space!

  • Open Afternoon

    Mon 10 Sep 2012

Thank you to everyone who attended our open afternoon today. The children really enjoyed having their parents, relatives and siblings in class, and we hope you found it useful, informative and fun! Thank you also for your suggestions on ways that we can make Kings Furlong Juniors even better. Watch this space- we’re working on implementing your suggestions. And it you didn’t get to share your opinions, please do come and see Mr Applegate anytime.

  • Japser the rabbit

    Fri 07 Sep 2012

Stop Press! Unfortunately, Jasper has had to retire from his busy work of sleeping, eating and hopping around at KFJS. He is getting a little too old for it, and now lives at Mrs Rowe’s house- or shall we say hotel?! He is living the good life, and we wish him the best! Can you think of a different animal we could have at school?

Jasper is our school rabbit! He lives in a hutch in the courtyard, and is allowed to hop about to get some exercise

Please could you keep Jasper’s hutch clean.  This means cleaning away any soiled bedding (straw and sawdust) from his hutch every day.  You will also need to keep the courtyard clean for him too.  There is a dustpan and brush to help you. Also remember to wear gloves and wash you hands with soap afterwards.

Jasper will be fed by Mrs Rowe to make sure he eats the right food every day and she will check his water bottle and bowl are okay too.

Jasper will need lots of love and brushing his coat would be good too.

You will need to talk to Mrs Rowe at lunchtime before seeing Jasper.  She will need two helpers each day so could the volunteers from each class speak to her first before helping Jasper.

Don’t forget Jasper would love to see you any time of the day as long as an adult accompanies you.
