Welcome to our brand new school website! We have created the website to keep parents up to date with school news and notices, and to showcase some of the great things our pupils are achieving. The website is extremely easy to edit by all staff at the school, so check back soon for new updates!
What a busy week this has been! We started our block of swimming lessons at QMC this week in really hot temperatures. The children have coped with this really well and are thoroughly enjoying improving their swimming skills. There are three groups at the pool with the beginners and middle groups having teachers in the water with the children. This has helped enormously with those children who were very nervous in water at the start of the initial session. Thank you for sending in swimming kit – nobody has forgotten yet! One request – several children have the same towels. Please could you name them to avoid confusion. A name on the small label is a tremendous help, especially when we are checking for lost items in the changing rooms before we leave.
This week we have been continuing with our work on Goth Girl. This novel has proved very popular and has given the children many opportunities to use their creative skills. This week they have designed their own character in the style of Chris Riddell and are busy writing small booklets about them. These will later be placed on the class bookcases for others to read.
Maths has been Fractions Madness! We have been learning to use the Bar Model to find fractions of quantities. Please ask your child to show you how they would find three quarters of 28 using the bar model!
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Summer Fete tonight. The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all. Thank you for your support.
Remember it is an INSET day on Monday but we look forward to seeing the children again on Tuesday.
Enjoy the sunshine,
The Year 4 Teaching Team
The PTA’s Summer Fun Day is happening next Friday, 29 June. On that day the children can wear non school uniform. In return for this, we would like you to donate a can, carton or bottle of soft drink (no glass please).
Please send soft drink donations via the class teacher on the morning of Friday 29 June. These will then be sold after school at the Fun Day!
The Infants have received a letter requesting different items.

We would like to take this opportunity to give you more information about our upcoming summer event tomorrow.
We are very excited to have a whole host of fun planned…
A massive thank you to those who have volunteered their time to help us set up and run this event. It really is appreciated!
The weather is set to be very warm and sunny, so please make sure you take appropriate precautions including wearing sun cream, wearing a hat and drinking enough fluids. If you should need medical attention during the event there will be a First Aid Gazebo located on the field.
Footfall around school will be higher than normal so please consider our local residents and others by not blocking driveways or obstructing roads. Please ensure all children have a responsible adult with them on site at all times.
We hope you will all support us at this event. Please remember all profits from this event will be added to this year’s fundraising!! So bring your cash and spend it, knowing that in doing so, you are helping the PTA fundraise for your children!
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Kings Furlong Schools PTA
We’re looking forward to seeing lots of you at our Sports Day tomorrow!
Just a few things to mention…
We will be starting our events at 9.30am. After 9.00am, access to the Junior School will be through the gate on Upper Chestnut Drive only (the playground gate will be locked for safeguarding reasons).
Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit (with colour team t-shirt). They will need to bring their uniform to change into for the afternoon.
Classroom toilets will be for the use of Junior School pupils only. Adults and small children will be able to use toilets via reception.
There will be a limited number of chairs provided – so please feel free to bring your own.
Our recent flyer on Sports Day is below and provides additional information.
Are you up to the challenge?! Miss Westaway would like children to have their photo taken reading a book in an unusual place. Be as creative as you can! Either email the school office with your picture (adminoffice@kingsfurlong-jun.hants.sch.uk) or print it and bring it into school. We will add it to our online gallery – and the most unusual/imaginative place will receive 10 merits!
Thank you to Taylor in Moore class, who has started our challenge by reading in the bucket of a digger…
